Preserving the stories that define civilization. Inspiring the generations that will carry them forward.
History is preserved not only through monuments and museums, but through the objects that bear witness to human achievement, discovery, courage, and culture. From military heritage and the founding of nations to natural history, fine art, and the world’s greatest sporting icons, these artifacts connect us to the people and moments that shaped our world.
This season’s exhibitions highlight the remarkable breadth of our shared heritage:
• A rare early engraved copy of the Declaration of Independence commissioned by John Quincy Adams, preserving one of America’s most enduring founding documents.
• One of the earliest known Thirteen-Star American Flags, associated with Revolutionary War service and representing the sacrifices that secured a nation’s independence.
• “Gus,” one of the largest and most complete Tyrannosaurus rex skeletons ever discovered, offering a rare glimpse into life on Earth more than 67 million years ago.
• More than 170 extraordinary sports collectibles celebrating athletes whose influence extends far beyond competition, preserving moments that have inspired generations around the world.
Each object serves a greater purpose than its rarity alone. Together they remind us that preserving history is an investment in education, cultural understanding, and the stewardship of our collective memory.
At the McWhorter Family Trust, we believe that archives, museums, historic collections, and cultural institutions safeguard the stories that define humanity. By preserving these legacies today, we ensure future generations inherit not only remarkable objects, but the knowledge, values, and lessons they represent.
Preserve the past. Educate the present. Inspire the future.
